I didn’t know I’d been narcissistically abused.

Sure, I recognized I’d been gaslit and survived endless criticisms. My ex had to have the final word and would lecture me on how to do the most mundane things. He said I couldn’t even hang the freshly washed clothes right.

Confused, hurt, and newly divorced, I started writing to make sense of what I’d survived.

It wasn’t until I self-published Love You More, the story of that toxic marriage, that I first heard the words “narcissistic abuse.” There, on social media, other victims described what I’d experienced—the walking on eggshells, carefully testing my partner’s mood before speaking, and the subtle verbal jabs that left me self-conscious and insecure. I wasn’t the only one who had endured my ex’s volatile mood swings, threats and intimidations, and serial cheating.

It was then that I realized I wasn’t alone.

And if you’re going through something similar, neither are you.
